Senate To Probe Destruction Of CIA Tapes

Senior lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have criticized the CIA's
decision to destroy videotapes showing the 2002 interrogations of two
key terror suspects, made public only Thursday. Democratic senators are
vowing an investigation.

The House approved the first increase in federal automobile fuel

Omaha Gunman's Note: "Now I'll Be Famous"

Eight people were killed and five wounded at an Omaha, Neb. mall before
a teenage shooter ended the horror by taking his own life. He left
behind a note that read, in part, "Now I'll be famous."

spree at an Omaha shopping mall, lost his job and his girlfriend in the
past two weeks. Friends said he struggled to overcome depression.

OMAHA - A man with a rifle opened fire at a busy shopping mall
Wednesday, killing eight people before taking his own life, police said.
Five more people were wounded, two critically. Shoppers and employees
ran screaming through the mall and barricaded themselves in dressing
rooms after hearing gunfire. The gunman was found dead on the third
floor of the Von Maur department store.

at least four car bombs exploded across Iraq as Gates met commanders,

The British teacher pardoned by the Sudanese president after being
jailed for insulting Islam is back on her home soil. A humble Gillian

Bush: "Nothing's Changed" On Iran

President Bush said the international community should continue to
pressure Iran on its nuclear programs, despite a new intelligence
finding that Tehran halted its development of a nuclear bomb. He said
"nothing's changed" in his view of Iran.

WASHINGTON - National support for Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton and
Republican Rudy Giuliani significantly eroded during the past month, a
USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a sign of volatility in both parties just a
month before the Iowa caucuses open the presidential primary season.
Clinton's standing among Democrats dropped by 11 percentage points from
early November and Giuliani's standing among Republicans fell by 9
points, though both continue to lead their fields.
