Iraqi official says talks with insurgents underway, U.N. chief to visit

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was headed to Baghdad Thursday for
talks
Iraq's prime minister just as his government disclosed that it has been
indirectly talking to Sunni insurgent groups over the past three months
to
persuade them to lay down their arms.
